I`ve loaded the driver and when I check it in device manager it says insufficient resources and close down another device to enable.
Which devices is it refering to ?
I had to do a fresh instal to my 2nd hard drive to get online, and I thought taking all the usb`s out temporarily did it but not for the main hd which is still stuck offline !?

    Thanks

Hi we need to know more about your machine i.e... make/model/OS and any service tags or seriels to help in giving you a fix, also we will need to know what -if any-in your device manager has yellow ! or red x beside them.

Welcome aboard handal. Have you checked your C drive to see if it's not too full? Which devices does it close down?

Whoa man! Sorry, LAN's are beyond me. Good luck.:) I would first re-install your chipset drivers and then go on from there.

Firstly thanks for the quick responses and welcome :)

Secondly sorry I did not post in drivers, but as I was trying to delete the 10 min limit came up :(

    Harware is : athlon x2 6 / 4gb corsiar / ma770-ud3
    Software is windows XP64

All drivers are up to date, both manufacturer and windows apart from video card which I will fix next - getting BSOD'S if I go svga.
The only exclamation mark, If I remember correctly is on the Gigabyte family realtek driver which says it cannot free sufficient resources.
On this hard drive, with a fresh load of xp 64, The only yellow is the UAA.
I`ve just changed the mb and ram so naturaly windows thinks it has recovered from a serious error, but it has also told me that I have changed my hardware so I have to re activate windows, which I did over the phone seeing as my ehternet is not working :)) Great service as always from ms rolleyes

The only other thing to go wrong was the power button stopped working so I now have a spare control lead set with just the power button attatched to turn the pc on and off !

Strangely enough, even though I did a search before posting, another guy has a prob with his ethernet and the same mb so we might want to combine ?

    Thanks again :)

Have you tried a discrete NIC card yet? I had the same issue with my ASUS P5Q Pro Realtek Ethernet mobo and that was the only solution for me, $5 bucks well spent if you ask me.;) Still works several years later.

I`m hoping there is a work around cos I`ve got it working with the fresh instal on my 2nd HD - I`m just hoping it won't have to be a fresh instal on my main :p
Though I could do a back up of selected fav's first in vga mode.

I appreciate the point thopugh cos this is often the sanest solution to onboard devices that try too hard, get in the way and cause bsod hell :[
Also cos of the said bsoding all the drivers were installed, uninstalled and re-installed till they work - only this one lingers on painfully :/

I was just wondering what it thinks needs to be closed down cos there are alot of devices that have resources that I just don't need like internal lpt/comm and 1394 and some pci/pciex1 - any ideas would be appreciated :)

Otherwise I'll bang away as usual and post the soltion here if found :]

Hmm, perhaps you have a rare IRQ conflict that these days is almost nonexistant. I have a very limited knowledge here, hopefully someone else will chime in.

Not necessarily IRQ's but certainly a related resource, probably caused by Windows reading the hardware incorrectly because of the 'board change. Have you updated the chipset drivers from the maker (not Windows or Microsoft Update or Device Manager) yet?

You could disable unneeded devices/ports in the BIOS and check if the BIOS can be switched from BIOS controlling resources to Windows controlling them and vice-versa. Also setting the BIOS to defaults or optimised defaults could help Windows install it.

In older versions of Windows, MSInfo32 was useful for tracking this kind of conflict down, there was a readout of 'problem devices' or similar towards the bottom of the first section, iirc.

Yup - uipdated the drivers and in 2nd HD which is the one ethernet works in hence my fresh instal idea of main HD to get the same working ethernet result.

Unlike my old asus m2r32-mvp board this gigabyte ma770-ud3 does not give me the option of plug and play or non in the bios - or I have not found it yet rolleyes

Ima gonna go ona cull of parasite/unused ports/slots that have resources allocated to them that they will never use as I don't see why it should not be anyone's (including mine) standard practice with IRQ's being unsetable in these Acpi pc's.

I've also seen the post of usb/graphic card clashes and alot of the microsoft cert eng's stating catagorically that it can't happen - ever - I believed they were wrong for some time b4 I got my old mobo up and running another way rolleyes
I do believe, however, that they can clash when a system is new/rebuit and gets overloaded, especially with too many wrong drivers - but even pcilock did not work for me - when I put the bios back to pnp OS my graphic card again shared IRQ 19 with the USB :drool

I'll let you know how the cull goes (I'm amazed at myself that I've allowed these unused devices to rule my world for so long - but...) as it could be a solution to many acpi pc issues...hopefully :D

Though both the fresh instal and $5 card have real practical merrits....I just don't like backing down to pc's...y'know :-D:-D

A quick question: are you using the same CPU now or was it changed with the 'board? If it was changed, what was the old CPU - single or multi-core?

Same cpu athlon x2 64 6000 - but I did change it over to my old athlon x2 64 4000 at one point just to make sure it was not a cpu failure, but I got all the same system responses with either cpu ;)

The only other thing I have changed is downgrading from my ati3970 card to my old ati1650 card as this card gives me less agro on rebuilds and the gigabyte board is 140W capable rolleyes

Doing cull tom am as it is 2am uk here now :)

Thanks and I'll let you know :yum

    So...
I disabled 1394, serial, etc in bios, booted up and got same yellow :[

I mean wth 1394 sits enabled next to the realtek lan on this fresh instal drive :confused
I also uninstaled the driver - device manager and it's instal prog - took out uaa (jic) and re-instaled after checking for kb... and taking out an old system audio max that I'd missed - just to be thorough :)
Checked devman and it was yellow - rebooted - still yellow :[
I'm wondering if I missed out a chip/device driver doing the instals on my main drive ?

Thanks Ian I've already got those, it's the lack of sane labelling of the folders that may have had me miss a setup or get one in the wrong order. Some of the setups are in the root, some a few folders down and so on .

Interestingly the 2nd drive is showing the realtek ethernet and a realtek high definition audio in add/rem progs but the ms uaa is yellow and can't initialise - code 37 :p

I think I`ll disable that in devman to see if it clears a path cos if I uninstal it it re-instals real fast :p
    What do you think ?

  16. handal

    handal Private E-2

Well i re-labeled each zip and made sure the order was right - still same thing whether I re-instal it and re-boot or if I uninstal and let windows detect it .

I may have to do a back up and a fresh instal - bleh

Mind you I just started wondering if pcilock which I used for the video card could be the issue hmmm...?

Take the pcilock off first, then we'll talk.

If I back up will it allow the realtek to keep working when I restore the back up though - always assuming that it works from a clean windows like it did with my 2nd hdd ?
    Thanks

When I just have to be a total nob.....
    Twas the pcilock all along...
Did not even have to re-in driver - taskbar had a nice little screen with new device is now available :-o
I only put it on to try and limit my 3970 to a usb free IRG - bleh
Thanks for all your time guys - at least I know how to solve an on mobo realtech audio device driver prob....if I ever have one rolleyes

Great!! ;) pleased to hear that you have got it sorted.
Thanks for the feedback and the run through of how you went around fixing it, it may help some one else!!
