reboot loop

    XP Pro boots, right before I get the login screen then reboots. Can't get into safe modes. Ran an R on repair, gave a command prompt, ran FIXMBR and CHKDSK /R, no change. Ran setup with repair option, finished, got a login, then went back to reboot loop after quickly flashing a Visual C++ error (too fast to read the rest of it).... Trying to save Documents and Settings directories (to save a lot of time rebuilding...). Any ideas much appreciated!
