reboot problems

Hi all, this morning my laptop decided that it was going to piss me off. It has lost the ability to remember anything i have done after being turned off or rebooted. I lose my email settings and passwords, IE favourites, backgrounds and properties, with a message saying something along the lines of 'this user profile is wrong' or words to that effect. Help please boffins.

 

Can you post more details, perhaps the exact error message?

 

sorry for the delay in replying. On booting, when the blue Windows 'loading' screen appears, i get a message saying that the compo cant find a local profile, and then goes onto finish booting. When it has fully loaded, none of my internet favourites are available, although if i search within documents and settings, they are still there, and my email is kaput, requiring all my pop, smtp, password details, etc to be reloaded. ANy clues?
