Recently my HP P7 7027c, i3,8G Ram, 1THD,Win 7 64 Home, has been taking forever to reboot. I reformatted to factory settings and it still takes about 3 minutes to boot, the HP page cames on and stays there for about 3 minutes. Works great after it boots. Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Hi my friend , you must download this useful utility

Why is hard drive free capacity your answer to ever post falcon? More likely is that with the restore you have many extra programs installed by default that you could remove to improve performance. Id suggest going through your programs installed, add removing anything you dont need.

Even more likely that its some preinstalled software that came with the pc, and not a hard drive space issue.

I don't see where this is a hard disk problem either. The system appears to be delayed in the beginning of the boot process as it is hanging on the HP splash screen. That could easily indicate a problem way before the boot drive is even being touched.

If the hard disk was the problem, I don't see the computer working fine after the boot completes - which is happening here. In fact, because the OP was able to successfully format and reinstall the OS, that almost conclusively indicates the drive is good. While it is always good to ensure all is good, I think looking at the drive now is a bit pre-mature. There are too many other possibilities that might need to be eliminated first.

Also, if a computer is struggling, I don't like to add even more programs that might add to the struggle. HD Sentinel runs in the background in real-time. If the HD is suspect, I recommend running chkdsk /r on the drive, or running the diagnostics software for the drive provided by the maker of the drive. Not some 3rd party, one-size-fits-all app. See Hard Drive Diagnostics - listed by maker.

And HD Sentinel is not free either (except for the DOS and Linux versions). Shareware is not Freeware

If the delays do start after the boot drive is accessed, that often (if not usually) is caused by corrupt or conflicting drivers that are trying to load during boot. Does booting into Safe Mode take a long time too? I would disconnect any hardware not needed (external drives or other non-essential USB devices) (including network connections) and see what happens.

Another cause of long boot times is many programs that are called up to run when Windows loads. These may be programs you use regularly and if so, that's acceptable - if no corruption. But it might also be one or several programs you don't need running - like auto-updaters for some of your add-ons.

When you formatted and reinstalled Windows, did you also re-install all your programs, or is Windows still in a clean state? If boot times are excessive after you re-installed AND fully updated Windows (including your hardware drivers), but you have not loaded up with all your standard programs (other than security), then it points to a driver, or some other hardware device on your system.

Finally, while 3 minutes might be considered long, I personally don't think it is excessive - even for Windows 7 64-bit. It is important to note that boot times are NOT an indication of performance! And that Windows 7 hybrid sleep-mode was created to avoid the annoyance of waiting for your computer to boot.

Hi my friend , i know that but i thought about hdd problem , ok you are right :-o , this movement is really important :

Go to Start - Run - typing msconfig in blank - you go to Startup tab - unbox all except for antivirus - Apply - Ok - windows asked you about restart your machine - go for it

afterwards it's boot will be faster than now i think !! :wave

Well, of course the problem with using MSCONFIG in this way it MSCONFIG is a troubleshooting tool, not a Windows configuration tool. That is, changes in MSCONFIG should be temporary, not permanent.
