Rebuilding HP Pavilion 522 - need driver(s)

I'm helping a friend who has an HP Pavilion 522 desktop. She has had a HD failure, so no recovery partition is available.

I have reloaded Microsoft XP Home OEM, input her Product ID, and the system is activated, and ready to go.

BUT the video is terrible, running in native vga mode. Obviously I need the video adapter (on the m/b) driver. I have visited the HP site, but there is no video driver available ?!? for this machine.

I am sure that it is a simple matter of me missing something - so I turn to you for advice. I also suspect we need ide, pci, nic (although ethernt connection is functioning), chipset and other drivers as well.

Looking at the motherboard configuration,

it shows that there is an onboard video.
I am surprised that there is not a video driver on the HP site.
What does the device manager
Start>Control Panel>System>Hardware>device Driver
say about the display adapter?
Does it give you a manufacturer and model?

Yes, the video is on board, I had been searching the HP site for a driver for it. They list several utility updates, but for WIN XP they list no drivers.

I have been, for the last several hours, downloading and installing all the Microsoft updates (91!) for this newly re-installed and registered copy of WIN XP Home. The last two updates that just appeared from Microsoft, were, (miraculously?) updated drivers for the video adapter and the on board modem (which is no longer used due to Ethernet sand DSL). I guess that HP assumes that the correct drivers will be provided by Microsoft - and they were.

They have been installed, and once again, Life is Good!
