i was wondering if a user sends out an email say to 1,000 to 25,000 and than they try to recall the message, will it impact the network? how bad? i have recalled a message before that went to about 2,000 users and it took about 3 days to complete.

when the need arises, I go look in the exchange queue & delete it from there (on the mail server itself)

Since email may, and ususally does, reach the recipient within seconds, or at most a few minutes, how does one recall email? Are you using some special email service that suspends email delivery for some time period and you can recall during that time period, or what?

Edit: I did not see Serious Sam's post before I posted. So, this involves Outlook, using Exchange?

this is a feature in outlook.

i do not have access to the exchange, we contract them out. plus we have servers all over the US.

You contract what out? You do not have accessto Exchange, but your Outlook is supported by and Exchange server, right? Otherwise, how can you recall email? As I said, email is normally sent with minutes or seconds. And, I don't know that email can actually be recalled when using Outlook through an Exchange server.

Can you cite some reference on recalling email? If not, where do you get this notion that it can be recalled?
