Recently purchased Laptop with zero performance

I recently had to buy a new work computer as my old HP laptop of 6-7 years hit the wall with the Monitor just blowing out. Went on Amazon purchased something that had decent price and good enough to work with. Picked an Asus X551m. Good reviews, 4gigs of ram, Intel Dual Core Celeron 2.16 GHz Processor. Shipped in one day.

It has run terrible. Has trouble using multiple programs at once. It is very slow, my old HP ran quicker opening and saving .doc files. It has almost zero pace when opening files from an external.

I wanted to basically know if I need to return this and if this is basically what I get for getting something cheap to work with Or should I be contacting Asus/Amazon.

 

I read a few of the reviews on Amazon and your experience with that computer seems contradictory to the general impression I got from the reviews. I think I'd be contacting ASUS while it's under warranty.

 

Those are notorious for being sub par. I've got one that was returned on the bench right now.

I installed an SSD and this computer is fast.

You may have to pay a little more, but you will be happy.

 

Im still rocking a 3 year old HP Envy 15 and havent found a single laptop yet that is worth upgrading to, because I always take a performance hit (sans gaming laptops).
