Hiya, just upgraded to RR Premium and looking to take full advantage of it.
    Supposedly 8/512
    Getting 5/480 or so.
    Using this site...
    http://speedtest.umflint.edu/
    I find
    bw = 119.32 based on packet size = 11Kbits, RTT = 90.15msec, and loss = 1.0E-6
The theoretical network limit is 119.32 Mbps
The transmit buffer (125.0 KByte) limits the application to 10.83 Mbps
Your receive buffer (63.0 KByte) limits the application to 5.54 Mbps
The network based flow control limits the application to 5.60 Mbps

Is the recieve buffer at 63KBytes the Windows98 RWin? Or is it another setting? Or am I doomed to a Win98 limit?
How can I change this? I am familiar with Dr.TCP and have set it as follows.
    TCP Recieve Window 518880
    Path MTU disc. yes
    Window scaling yes
    Black Hole detect no
    time stamp no
    Max Dup ACKs 2
    selective ACKs yes
    TTL 64
    ICS MTU blank
MTU 1450 (set by the math method)

Any help would be appreciated to keep my from the dreaded RR tech call.
    LOL

I found out this is the RoadRunner network setting. This is their way of limiting the bandwidth and I cannot change it.
They use the phrase "Up to 8MB/sec" but cap it at 5.2MB/sec.
    LIES.
I am going to bitch at the tech tomorrow and see if I can get him to up the cap. I can't see paying $25 more a month for 1 MB/sec.
    pffffft.

Now getting 7/460 to close servers and 4-5/400 to further ones.
Now done some further tweaking from a variety of sources. Here, PCPitstop, dslreports, bandwidthplace and SpeedGuide mostly.
Talked to a tech about 8pm. Said he didn't see anything wrong and would up me another level. That guy should call this morning.
There was an odd hour or so when my IP was different and my numbers were 2/200 right after I called and talked to the guy today.
After that hour, I was back to my usual IP with 60 pings and 7/460.
Will see after today's call. I think I'm getting about as much as I am going to get.
