Recommend A Cloud Storage Service?

I'd like to be able to store various types of backups in the cloud: user data backups (including various subsets thereof), factory system backups, system backups with user-installed apps, disk images.

"Robustness" would be nice, and of course so would free or cheap.

I've found 14 cloud storage services online. Any suggestions?

Since -"backups"- 'appears' to be your main concern then here goes: IMHO - nothing can beat a well designed 'personal' storage setup. All the way from free backup/imaging software, to usb drives, to cd's/dvd's, to dedicated hard drives, to home servers etc. the main point of argument is that ALL of those are under YOUR CONTROL. Cyberspace is so intricate and 'controversially transparent' that no one can ever convince me that anything you put into cyberspace is 100% safe. For that matter, neither are any of the ways that I suggested. Example: a house fire. However, be creative - buy a fireproof safe for at home. Nonetheless - I don't, at this point in time, believe in clouds for anything but keeping away a sunburn.

No, as I said, I'm concerned with the full gamut of backups: user data backups, factory system backups, system backups with user-installed apps, and disk images.

Agreed, so I figure I'll store backups in both the cloud and at home.

I've tried Acronis True Image Cloud and it takes forever, even on a 70mbps fibre optic connection. Plus no uploading/downloading of backups is 'robust' (which has to mean 100%) and for something like a system backup you only need a slight data corruption for it to be useless. And it is not cheap.
There is plenty of free cloud storage for any other data.

OK, thanks, I'll stay away from Acronis...

The potential problem of a corrupt upload/download via the cloud will be there with any program of that type, it wont matter whether it is the reputable Acronis or not. Non system data is one thing, a system back up though is another.

Yes, I 'did' fully understand the "full gamut" spec. I was just trying to point out that I am not comfortable - YET - with the 'world' of cyberspace being able to 'potentially' see my sensitive information. That's why I don't like the cloud.

My input on backup software is currently definitely in the arena of the 'free' Aomei Backupper. Extremely high reviews and very user friendly. I have done all of my backups, system imaging, etc. with it. Very successful and fast restoring. Really like it. Because I, a few years back, purchased NovaBackup I use it as a 2nd fail safe and Windows 7 OS feature as a 3rd fail safe. I don't like the Windows 7 method as well because it makes me concentrate a little bit more intensively on choices. Ohhh, lazy me.

Do you mean it's not free in the sense that its install includes bundleware?

I'd like to try it, but I was unable to download it. (See my thread "Lenovo R&r & Win7 Backups", post #8.)

On the MG download page there is no reference to Aomei free ('standard' versions) having bundleware. If it did that warning would appear below it. It does for every program containing bundleware that MG hosts.
I used the first download link and it downloaded fine in both Firefox and Chrome in Windows 10.
When running it, Microsoft Smart Filter gave an 'unknown publisher' warning which I overrode. Installed just fine with no optional addons shown.

Sorry, skulldugerys_dupe, for my misleading presentation of words. I meant that is was financially 'free' and did not require purchase for the standard version - which - by the way is extremely feature filled. I always download direct from the authors site; any authors site. Try that.

I have yet to study your post number 8.

Okay, I studied it. At this time I don't know what to say to you. I don't want to go overboard here and toss out stuff just to be a wordy person on a forum.

Naa, go ahead and be wordy. I've found that I' learning a lot by asking a lot of questions.

Image your system with Macrium Reflect - external hard drive is not costly.

Backup photos and data to Onedrive and, or Google Drive.

Dropbox is also an option and relativity inexpensive.

    All are free.

Yeah, that's the great thing about electronics - it's the only thing for which the prices keep coming DOWN every year. You can actually pick up a 500GB external USB drive for as little as $50 new, maybe $40 manufacturer refurbished on eBay.

    Thanks for the recommendations, peterr.
