    Hi Geeks,

Any thoughts on an NAS or External HD for backing up several home computers?

    Current Computers:
XP SP3 Desktop Media Center Pro
    1 Win7 Laptop
    1 WinVista Laptop
1 Win7 Desktop (this one might not be on the backup unit??)

XP Desktop will be replaced in very near future by some sort of Win8 Desktop
Win7 & WinVista Laptops likely to be updated to Win8 soon.

Home Router is: Netgear N600 WNDR3400 not sure what ports/plugs I have avail.

    Thanks for ideas!

With that many PCs I would recommend a NAS. It is a real PITA to have to keep swapping an external drive around. You can get a NAS enclosure for <£50 and a 1TB drive for ~£80.

You can install Cobian Backup which is free on all your PCs and ad set it to back up to your NAS.

You can schedule the backup to run automatically so once it is set up you can just forget about it
