About a month ago, I had a thread at http://forum.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=68737&goto=newpost (sorry, don't know how to do links) about how the keyboard I bought at a garage sale (I hear geeks cringing as I type) makes my Dell Inspiron 8600 build up electricity and get stuck. Some of you nice folks suggested I get a new one. Good enough. Well, it's time to look for one -- I'm really stuck on those split ergonomic ones since I used to use it on my old computer. What I'm looking for now is one like that for my laptop so I imagine it needs a USB plug, not a ps-2 (with an adaptor) like the one I have now.

How do I know what will work with my Dell? Most of the ones suggested on the previous thread were not quite what I was looking for. Is it pretty much anything goes as long as it's usb and Windows (not that Ineed all those funky Win keys, but I see them in the majority advertised)? Or will some keyboards fry if you use it with Dell? (Some people have mentioned in conversation that sometimes Dell stuff doesn't accept other manufacturers' peripherals well.)

    Youse guyz have any favorites?

Thanks from Grammaw, who wants to write more fiction but is being smashed by the tiny keyboard.

great advice; hope it works with my Dell laptop

Halo, you're a doll! I've had that MS Elite ergo keyboard on my Amazon wish list but due to family crises haven't taken action. Before my folks spent their retirement bucks on it (birthday gift, alright?) I wanted to be pretty sure that it would interface okay with a Dell. OR maybe that was several yrs ago when certain peripherals didn't work well with their stuff.

So, if the puter blows up in my face, I can send you an email virus in thanksgiving? Just kidding ... you have all been SUCH a help to a non-tecchie-person who generally types with a grandchild in her lap and thus needs all the help she can get!!!
