Recommendation....External Hard Drive

    Can anyone suggest a very good traveling external hard drive?

    I had two that recently failed because while I was traveling the remained in a box inside the car when I was not in a hotel.

    I would like something I could pack and fly with and could also handle extensive road trips?

    How much storage do you really need when traveling? I'd suggest getting some hcsd cards in 16GB or 32GB. These are so small and can be carried in a case on you so they won't have to sit in a hot car. My netbook, which is my traveling companion, has an sd slot. I keep a card in there all the time. (Mine has movies on it). If I wish to take along additional movies, I throw another card into the netbook's traveling neoprene case.

    Thank you.

    Actually i need at least 500gb. My career requires me to travel for extended periods of time.

    I want to back up everything so if my lap top crashes it is quickly recovered.

    I have two of these one is a 140GB (older version) and the other 500GB and they have served well for being hurled around in luggage in airports, also can fit into a jacket pocket not too bad.
