Recommendation on replacment motherboard?

I have a Compaq Presario SR5130NX desktop with an ASUS motherboard model M2N68-LA, Rev. 1.01, and I've tried everything to flash the BIOS to fix it. When I took it to BestBuy, the GeekSquad guy said I should replace it, 'cause he couldn't flash it either.

Since this computer is about 2 years old, I'm wondering what model I can use to replace the motherboard? or do I need to find an exact match? There is a similar model on TigerDirect, but I'm wondering if the VGA cards, fans, CPU chip, etc, will fit? Thanks in advance.

 

I would recommend another Asus board. How much is your budget?

What speed is your ram?. If you could pull a chip out and read the speed on it then post the results here so we can find a motherboard to work for you.

Also could you give us the run down of what issues happened and why your pc is broken?

 

Computer model: Compaq Presario SR5130NX desktop
Motherboard: ASUS model M2N68-LA, Rev. 1.01
Processor: AMD AthalonTM 64 X2 Dual Core +3800
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE
Memory: 2 512MB sticks, 240 pin, DDR2 SDRAM for a total of 1GB (Have not upgraded this, but can take a max of 4GB)

I am looking at an Asus M2N68-AM SE2 Motherboard, the graphics listed are actually NVIDIA Geforce7025/nForce 630a, and supports an AMD socket AM2+ up to and including a Phenom X4 Quad-Core. They have it at TigerDirect for about $60, not including shipping, and I'm thinking it's WAY cheaper than trying to replace the current motherboard.

I currently have an A:\ prompt, so maybe my motherboard isn't dead after all, but I'm still stuck on flashing my BIOS.
