Hi! I am looking for a good hard drive back-up program for my Windows 10/64-bit laptop and my mother's Windows 10/64-bit mini-tower. I also need to back up flash drives. And, while I'm at it, my Win98SE system at my mother's house?

I actually use 7Zip and a batch file to back up my programs and can also back them up on a CD. However, I want a backup tool for my desktop and other documents. I looked on freewarefiles.com and found two programs. However, one didn't compress the files, and I'm not sure if the other compressed files either.

Sorry for the stupid question. :( I Googled it and found HandyBackup. I already downloaded and installed it, but I ask your advice: Is it good? Should I keep and use it? Or should I uninstall it and look for another backup program?

I suggest you start by expanding your knowledge of backup by reading THIS, ignoring the constant references to Acronis, a paid for program, as there are several equally capable imaging programs which are free.

My hard drive is 148 GB full. I have a 128GB flash drive which should be able to hold the image, but I just want to back up some of the files, and I don't want to use the aforementioned flash drive until I need it.

If you just want to backup files you could use a sync program, a program which keeps folders you select in a synchronised backup. You cannot backup installed programs without using a disk imaging program. In Win 10 there is a built-in file backup feature called File History, a set it and forget file backup system I can recommend. To backup the whole system you need an imaging program, similar to Acronis.

Whatever backup system you choose you need a drive to store them on, so your comment of not wanting to use your flash drive makes no sense at all unless you also have a separate backup drive.

I do want to use flash drives, just not the 128GB one--I want to reserve that for something that calls for it, but, now to mention it, maybe I will use it. I already have seversl flash drive and two in the mail. I can use one of them to back up my system. BTW, this morning, I found Cobian Backup on freewarefiles.com.
