I am wondering if there is any type of software that would enable me to record a song that is streamed on a website. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions that would help me rectify my problem?? Also, how can I find out what type of file it is??

Why not just e-mail the owner of the site and ask about the song.

In order to answer your question - but to steer well clearl of the legal implications of recording something you do not have the right to - you can get recorder software off the net, sometimes included with your soundcard, which offer a 'Record What You Hear' type feature. This just records to wav what goes to the out-line of your soundcard.
I have the Creative Recorder on my computer which does this - was part of the software bundled with my Sound Blaster if memory serves. A mate of mine found something similar on the net.
But as someone suggested contacting the website owner might be a safer way of doing this.

    Cheers,
    Greg

I emailed the owner of the it and they never got back to me. The group is called porcupine Tree, and here is the link to the site: http://www.prazen.com/cori/space2.html
I just bought Adobe Audition but haven't figured out how to record from the site. Can nyone help me either find a method of recording it OR finding the name of the song? Thanks a bunch

fishhunter does the song have lyrics? now that you know the name of the group, maybe you can google search for the lyrics... i usually have a pretty high success rate... try Porcupine Tree "lyrics here" lyrics

Actually, the lyrics in itself is just a loop of a recording from a space shuttle to the control station. There is some instrumentals playing in the background but you can hear the chat between control center and the space shuttle. It's an interesting song, and if I can find the name of the song and album, I can purchase the cd. Thanks

    Hint:

Check the source of the web page for an html tag that looks like this:

    BGSOUND SRC="filename.wav"

If you can access that file via the website,
try to download and save it on your hard drive?
