I've got a DVD recorder and 4.7 gig blanks, trouble is the movies I want to copy are bigger then that.
Here's the story: I'm a divorced dad and get my kids on every other weekend. I buy them movies to watch here and they want to take them home to watch over. Once the movies are there I never see them again. The kids arn't allowed to take them back to their terrible fathers house. So I want to make copies so that the kids can watch them again when their here plus beable to watch them at home.
Can I record the movies I buy with my setup???

If your ex is that petty, I would be verrrrry careful of sending what could be construed as pirated movies to her to use as ammo against you in some future action. She could say that you were corrupting these minors by teaching them how to steal even though you are merely making an archival copy of the movie.

Making and archival copy assumes that you own the original. If you make a copy of something you do not have the original of it could be used against you later if you cannot produce the original.

Petty is probably the nicest thing you can say about my ex, You want to hear what I really think about her
What you say jimpeel has been thought about, the copies would stay here orininals to the kids, thanks.

    Thanks also Robo
