recover file that was overwritten

so i updated an emulator I use and sadly in copying over saved games i accidently copied the news over the olds which i wanted to save and now I need to recover them. I have read of a previous versions tab but to the best of my knowledge I do not have one I have looked under the 2 files. These files were replaced instead of deleted and copied(wasnt thinking when i did it) is there any way to recover them? I have already tried recuva and file undelete from glary utilities
