recover Outlook emails

This is about Outlook, not Outlook Express.

My sweetie sucessfully predicted that he was going to lose his job, and along with that, his company laptop. He had a lot of personal stuff on it, and wanted to copy the contents of the hard drive to an Iomega portable drive. He did not just copy C:\\ though, he tried to copy all the files and folders individually.

Long story short, he would like to recover his emails even though we do not have a working copy of Outlook. Is there any way to convert them to Thunderbird's email format without Express being installed?

We can open them with a program I found elsewhere on the net - Msgviewer Pro 3 - but exporting them as .eml files isn't supported.

Any thoughts much appreciated.

I don't believe it can be done, without having Outlook installed on the same machine. This discussion supports my position: outlook to outlook express

 

Since you don't want to use Outlook Exp I'm guessing the free trial of Office 2007 is not an option?
