Recovery Console winxp

    I have an ASUS Eee PC 1001 pxb that was badly infected with malware. I think it is clean now but also beleive that some of the files were damaged. I'm getting error messages such as system32 has experienced a problem and needs to close and Eee Pc ACPI service encountered prob and needs to close. If I try to go to microsoft update explorer tells me there is no internet connection and brings up blank page. (Internet is working fine unless go to either microsoft update or asus update).

    I wanted to just run the recovery console but I'm not sure how to get it to work. When I run it, I get the option to select either 1 c:\windows or 2 d:\miniNT I canselect either but don't know what to do after that. My computer did not come with recovery disks and it doesn't have cd rom drive. I do however have the product keys for the software. Can someone please help me.

    This is a download of an .iso file of just the Recovery Console for XP.
    Burn to CD with Nero or other 'disc image' capable tool and boot.

    XP Recovery Console.

    To get the eeepc to boot from an optical drive, attach an external CD or DVD drive and put in the disk. Then turn on your eeepc and press F2. This gets you into the BIOS. Click on the Boot tab, then Boot Priority. Use the up/down arrow keys until the CD/DVD is highlighted and press F10. You might be asked if you want to boot from the CD/DVD. Type the word yes (y is not sufficient, it will be ignored) and press enter.
    This will get the recovery console loaded.
