Toshiba satellite L305. The system originally had a bad HD, so I replaced the HD, and I am using the Toshiba recovery disc to return to factory settings. It goes all the way thru the process, please enter disc 2... Creating CRC files.... and that where I'm getting this error message. Error 10-FA11-045D. After googling the issue, It seems one person at least solved this issue by replacing the HD.. From Revocery options, I used cmd prompt to Chkdsk, everything was good. Tried memory diagnostics, everything was good. Only thing that I can think of... I replaced the HD with a diff size and brand than what was originally in it, any chance this could have affect. I can turn the computer on and windows loads fine, but this Toshiba Configuration utility pops up saying , applying final configurations. I let it set for nearly 2 days, and still won't go away. I've tried turning it off numerous times, and config utility still coming up saying applying final configs. Any help would be great. Already checked the disc for scratches, they are both brand new, just took them out of pkg from toshiba few days ago. :confused

Not sure if this will work but create a bootable CD of Gparted. Burn the iso with Nero or Imgburn (freeware).Boot the CD, delete your existing partitions then create a new one and format it NTFS. Then try the install again.

I'll give it a shot and see what happens.

    Failure-Security Options ???

I got it fixed. but have encountered a different problem... Everythign seems to be working ok, but when I try to bring up IE to get online, it's like it hangs up, mouse still working.. I press ctrl-alt-del and screen goes black, and a pop up box comes up and says,
Logon process has failed to create the security options dialog
    Failure- Security options

    any tips?

Did the GParted idea work or did you do something else to get your disks to install? Just wondering.

Did you install any software after you installed the operating system?

No, I did not install anything, I tried to uninstall norton 360, but nothing is happening. I've ran chkdsk, it says it's good, and I'm currently running memory diagnostics tool.

Thanks for that feedback. That may be the result of Norton but I do not know. Hopefully somebody can jump in here and give their thoughts. You may want to try uninstalling in safe mode.

Edit: Find your drive manufacturer and see if they have a hard drive diagnostic utility to run.

Additional Edit: Try Event Viewer and see if it may lead you to the problem.
