    Hi
    C Drive.
    Seagate 1TB HDD.
    Seagate SeaTools says its ok.
Malwarebytes and Antivirus says no problemo.
chkdsk Repair says no bad sectors.

    chkdsk Fix says:
Cleaning up minor inconsistencies on the drive.
Cleaning up 261 unused index entries from index $SII of file 0x9.
Cleaning up 261 unused index entries from index $SDH of file 0x9.
Cleaning up 261 unused security descriptors.

Windoze then restarts like its spoze to, then I immediately run chkdsk Fix again and it says:
Cleaning up 9 unused index entries from index $SII of file 0x9.
Cleaning up 9 unused index entries from index $SDH of file 0x9.
Cleaning up 9 unused security descriptors.

Windoze then restarts like its spoze to, then I immediately run chkdsk Fix again and it says:
Cleaning up 2 unused index entries from index $SII of file 0x9.
Cleaning up 2 unused index entries from index $SDH of file 0x9.
Cleaning up 2 unused security descriptors.

No matter how may times I chkdsk Fix I always get
Cleaning up X unused index entries from index $SII of file 0x9.
Cleaning up X unused index entries from index $SDH of file 0x9.
Cleaning up X unused security descriptors.

Whereas all three X are each the same number, but different each time I chkdsk Fix.

    Any clues ???

    thanks

    Update

    I have 3 PCs all XP SP3 32bit
    The OP referred to PC1

PC1 is a very High end system, PC2 medium end system, PC3 low end system.

ALL three of them are reporting exactly the same type recurring of HDD errors on C Drive.
    :cry

Sadly, you failed to tell us what operating systems you are using. :(

What do you mean by chkdsk fix? What is the exact syntax you using? It should be chkdsk /r for best results. Note the /r includes the same actions as /f, but adds a couple more checks.

It sounds like these system may be behind in updates. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/831374/en-us

All computers are 32bit XP SP3 as mentioned in username and first line of the post above yours, Digerati.

:-o Sorry 'bout that. I even saw that post and noted the high, medium and low end systems, just not the OS. Lack of coffee - Yeah! That's the ticket! ;)

At any rate then that link I provide seems like it might apply.

And I note those are not really HD errors - that is they don't indicate the hardware is failing, which agrees with the fact SeaTools didn't find any problems.

chkdsk /f is the abbreviation of chkdsk Fix
chkdsk /r is the abbreviation of chkdsk Repair
Dont worry I am a PC Technician I know how to use chkdsk.

PC1 updates are up to date, PC2 & PC3 updates are a bit behind.

The link you gave is no help it tells of hot fix for Windows Server 2003 which I dont have, and it says to get service pack 3 which I already have.

    Problem remains........

    Greetings, 32bitXPSP3.

Quick question: are you using the same Windows XP installation disk for the three machines? Wondering if there might be some form of corruption with the media if all 3 exhibit the same exact anomalies. Just a shot in the dark.

No its not that, if it was I would see issues when I used the XP CD to install windoze, which was a long time ago.

Also I been doing googleing and many others are having the trouble that I got, but havnt see a valid solution yet.

Yeah, I thought that was a little left field, but it was worth mentioning.

What other symptoms are the machines presenting - why did you start the Disk Error Checker and the SeaTools to begin with?
