Recycle Bin Manager

Hey gang - I process data files that are FTP'd in to our office. I get several hundred a day and delete them after process. When I finally remember to go into the recycle bin to remove older files (we need to keep a week's worth at any one time) I can have tens of thousands in the trash. Is there an application that anyone knows of that will schedule deletion of trashed files subject to some kind of retension policy based on age?

i can't think of anything off-hand, or find anything that does that. I do know that you can schedule a regular emptying of the recycle bin. but i wonder, is there a way you could move the files to another folder maybe labeled with the date it's' placed there, or the date to actually delete them?

I actually spent quite a bit of time yesterday trying to find a solution. I came across scripts that people wrote to delete anything in a certain directory older than x number of days but I do not know the modern scripting languages (I grew up during Fortran IV) so had no idea if the script was worthwhile.
If you google and know scripts you will stumble across quite a few. Put a good script into the startup folder and the files should be deleted at startup.
The other option was to double click on the date modified column in the recycle bin so the oldest files are at the top then simply select the files 8 days old, using shift key to click the first file and the last file you want removed (all the ones in between are automatically selected by holding the shift key) and delete them but you don't want to do that.
