I hope someone here can help me. When I receive an email with graphics inserted into the email, all I get is an empty box with a red "X" in it.
I've done everything I can think of to fix this. I am set to receive html, java enabled, med security setting. I don't know what else to try.

I have no trouble opening and viewing pictures as attachments. seeing graphics on web sites etc.

I have a Dell, pentium 4, 512 RAM, windows XP pro,40GB hard drive
    IE6 and outlook 2002
I'm fairly computer literate, but no where near the high class of geek :). I can, however, follow instructions if you are specific.
    Thanks

What are the file extentions of the graphic images if they are PSD and some others that escape me for now they will not show..... JPG, GIF and BMP will work for sure.

Thanks for your response. No, they are normal files like JPG, GIF etc.

Sorry, I'm not real sure. Would you tell me specifically how to tell? I did go to internet options under multi-media and made sure there was a check in show pictures and animation etc. I sure will appreciate any ideas you may have.

Outlook 2002 blocks remote HTTP HTML image sources for security reasons. If you REALLY want to see the images, then you need to adjust the security zone's allowed list of domains.

I have lowered some security settings. I'm afraid I need specifics on where and how. I can view pictures in spam ad etc., it is only in personal mail when someone inserts a picture or an animation.( you know, a family photo or a funny that I would really like to see in the mail itself) Would the security settings relate to those? Sorry. Wish I knew more about this stuff, but I certainly am learning.

Also, when I get these red x boxes it shows an attachment line above the message and I can click on that and see the picture, but I want to see it within the email. Sometimes there are words to go with the pictures etc that you miss the affect if you can't see it all together.

I really appreciate you trying to help. I've been over every option, preference, setting etc. I can find to no avail.

EVERYONE, the issue is so easy, all you do is find the Host file that resides in Windows\system32\drivers\etc and rename it to hostbak. Kazaa and other adaware screw it up. Thats it and its guaranteed to work. I have had the problem for weeks and this was the remedy.

Host file has nothing to do with this. This is an ancient post.!!!
