I am trying to submit my resume to numerous sites, and they have an upload limit of 100kb. I have a .pdf document that was exported from an .odt that sits at 112 kb. There are no images. How can I shrink this by 12 kb?

have you tried using a compressing tool such as winzip or winrar and then upload it.

    just a suggestion

How long is your resume? How did you create the PDF file? I just exported an OpenOffice Writer file, which is about 2 1/2 pages long, to PDF and the file size is 77.2KB. So, your PDF seems bloated. Perhaps a different method of creating the PDF will result in a smaller file.

The only way that you have to do this is getting a software to edit the PDF as f,e "Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended" and reduce the quality or quantity of the file. (I mean quality when are images or multimedia there).

Adobe Acrobat Pro, have options to reduce the size of the file as i show in the image attached.

That all is boring, you will need to install something and maybe pay for it, the best in my opinion is download and install:

    7zip

to compress it in zip format.

After you install you will have the option over the PDF or any file to compress it as the image below:

Send the compressed file as attachment in e-mail.

    Hope it helps.:zzz

So, you're suggesting he purchase expensive software to do this, right? I believe that's not necessary. He may not need any PDF editor. He may simply need to try a different method of converting the .odt file to PDF. That's why I asked him how he did it.

He has numerous options for creating a PDF. He can export to PDF from OpenOffice Writer. He could install a PDF conversion program such as PrimoPDF and use it to "print" his document to PDF. Numerous freeware PDF convertors are available in addition to PrimoPDF and I'd surely try one or more of them to see whether they result in a smaller file.

I did read before I posted. And, I understand that he could probably redue the size of the file being uploaded by zipping/compressing it. But, I don't believe we don't know for sure exactly what the recipient's requirement of a 100KB limit means. In other words, I suspect they want the actual document, when received and opened at their end, to be not greater than 100KB. Perhaps the initiator of this discussion can clarify that point.
