Hi! I just had my pc serviced thru the malware department... went thru all the motions in the "read me" section, and so much more... I was treated very well there and got rid of a lot of rancid trash. After leaving there with a clean bill of health, I reported that I was still haveing random acts of (extreme) slowness... thus I was referred to you! Any ideas that might help? Thanks in advance... You guys are the geekiest!

If you dont mind me moving in on this thread.... I ve got a similar problem. an account for someone who no longer uses this pc shows up when I start up my puter. Well recently I have been denied access to almost everything, saying I dont have permission or something.

First it will come up with a box that says

    run as

which user account do you want to use to run this program?
then it says current user, me, with a check in the circle.

or I can uncheck and select administrator, and it asks me for a password.

    I HAVE AN ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT!

But it wont let me access anything, not even the user accounts place.

SO, I tried the safemode thing and did run and typed control userpasswords and the weird part is that the person who doesnt use the pc any more... (the one who also has an administrator acct, and shows up in normal boot) ISNT THERE!! So, I cant even delete it because it doesnt show up there!

I cant do anything right now and I need help!!! Please!!

In the program itself ...right click properties on the icon....security tab ...and add the user name ..give it full permissions.

Or:Hold down the Shift key as you right-click on the program’s setup file.
    Click Run as.
Type in a username and password that have Administrative permissions.
This will also work on applications in the Start menu.

Are we talking xp home or pro?

Is there a password on the admin account?
Did you do the process in the link I gave?
Have you tried a system restore?

Need more info as to what is going on and how the problems show up.

Then let's deal with one puter at a time.

Go to start / run / type "msconfig" without qoutes and tell me what all is in the startup tab.

Is the slowness just when you start up..loading windows or are you experiencing it with certain programs? If so, what.

How much ram do you have ...more info please.:)

    It says jusched, c:\programfiles\Java\jre1.5.0_09\bin\jusched.exe
    location... HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVer...

No, not just when I startup... I havent been able to figure out any rhyme or reason. It seems random. There are only a few sites I go to.. But it seems like it happens after it (my pc) has been on for a while.

Ill have to get back to you about the ram... I need to shut down and check something out.

Must be more than that in your startup ....but the problem with it being random could be the ram or a heat issue ...did you run everest and look at the temperatures?
