I was given a lexar jump drive secure by a friend. I don't know anything about these things, but it seems that it has two partitions- one "secure" and one fat32. I want to get rid of this secure partition, the fat32, and reformat into one normal fat32 partition. All the files left in the jump drive are corrupt (strange character file names).

Windows (both 2000 and XP) and Partition Magic 8 won't allow a reformat since it says the drive is write protected. Is there some hardware write protection? Any ideas?

Yes, in both windows and in partition magic. But trying to copy files is VERY slow on any machien that I plug it into. I figure a reformat might help. Who knows what my friend did to it before she gave it to me.

Yes. I hate to bother you guys with this- there must be a pdf from lexar. Their site is pretty uninformative though. Do I just need to update the software? I really just want to get rid of the secure partition, and use the full capacity normally.
