Hope I can explain this right, here goes.......I reformatted my friend's PC because it was very messed up. I knew how to do it from reading about it, plus I own 2 Pc's and had to refomat my own too.
Everything went very well until it came to the USER AGREEMENT to load Windows ME. For some odd reason the screen resolution is off, making all the icons and fonts large. The left side of the screen is a menu, and it now it sits on top of the area to click YES to the agreement on both requests. I cant get past that USER AGREEMENT page because of it. I am stumped! Can someone help? Thanks.

It probably was not able to load the drivers required, so it ended up being 480x320. The easy way is to possibly Format and reinstall WinMe. If this system is running WinME, it should be no problem to load WinXP (have them purchase a copy), due to ME is a huge memory hog.

The PC came with 3 recovery cd's. The 3 rd CD was labeled by someone (who once repaired this PC) "DRIVERS" ..... now the problem: When reformatting process is happening, it asks for each of the 1 st 2 CD's but not the 3 rd, the DRIVERS. Can someone PLEASE explain why? and when and how to install the driver CD? My friend is not able to afford the upgrade to WIN XP. We just need to get past the USER AGREEMENT screen and install drivers. HELP

The CD that is labeled 'Drivers' is not part of the Restore set. The drivers must be loaded post install. Put the CD in the drive and see what is on it. Most drivers come with an installer and you just need to run the installer. Some don't come with an installer; so, you need to open the Device Manager, and look for any devices with an exclamation mark. Then update the drivers from the device properties, using the drivers on the CD.

Thanks for the advice Tim, but I'm not sure I made my dilemma very clear in the first post. This WIN ME computer was an absolute mess, freezing at every click. I tried to do all the "normal maintenance" in safe mode (defrag, scan disk, etc.), with no change. I decided to do a complete restore recovery. I carefully followed directions and used the HP system recovery CD's 1 & 2. The 3rd CD is labeled application recovery. I can get as far as the preparing system to load, and even as far as the USER AGREEMENT page of Windows ME. Problem is that the screen resolution or the visual appearance of the screen is big. It's causing the area where I need to bullet "accept" impossible to reach, therefore I cant move ahead to load windows at all. I cant install drivers as you said unless I can get past this issue. I found a CD that was in my friend's computer things labeled "asylum" and one labeled: "sandisk Image Mate dual readers" One may be a video card.....I'm lost now....Can someone PLEASE tell me how to proceed past the registration page if the "agree" is not accessible. And what do I do with these 2 extra CD's? Sorry to be so dense

CD 1 and 2 is all you need. The application Recovery is in case the application images get wiped off the hard drive. My question is, are you using the monitor that came with this system, or another monitor? Sometimes using the wrong monitor with a machine, especially if it did not come with the CPU will cause the video to be off.

I have ran into this with Win98 when the install did not run right. Try booting into [SAFE] mode and see if you can get into finishing the install that way.

As a matter of fact, I am not using the original monitor  dummy me. It never occured to me that another monitor could cause such a problem. The monitors I've tried to connect HP and Gateway.
The original monitor is an HP, but probably a newer model than mine. So..... I should try it with the monitor it was originally installed with? Thanks...will try to do that.
