reformat with windows ME

I have to format a friends computer, and I cant convince him to upgrade to XP. I havn't worked with ME. What command prompts do I need to Know? and is there any advice? Thanks in advance .

 

I may have not told the story correctly, he dosen't argue that XP is better . But he's buying a new computer in less than a year and dosn't want to spring for OS since it will be cheaper to buy it bundled. After format do I just type setup at the a:/ comand prompt? Thanx for fast reply!

 

i recently (well a few months ago) had to reinstall windows me on my computer and it was pretty straight forward. if it's his same drive i would format the drive so you don't have any problems. i worked on a laptop and couldn't format it until i had installed an os installed, and i noticed that i had remnants of stuff remaining (like msn messenger, etc.), so i formatted it and all was good. for your computer, you should just be able to format the h/d, make sure you have your bios setting to boot from disk, and have at it. - sos

The major is correct, ME is pretty unstable. Just don't want you getting blamed for something that's not your fault.

Thanx all, that link was what I was looking for, gives me a good step by step referance in case I run into problems.
Unstable....yea...I remember windows98 days, medieval.
