reformat

    I know there is a long post about all kinds of steps to do if you have malware.
    .
    I dont know why there isnt just one way to do it.
    cant I justs reformat my HD after saving all my data on a flash drive?
    my fF browser keeps "NOT RESPONDING" and it is slow to change tabs, so I suspect I have some virus, I ran MALWALRE BYTES ANTIMALEWARE and its stil doing it....
    is there one bprogram to use to clean my computer of virue/malware?

    Because there are tens of thousands of types of infections and there is no simple easy fix. Even after running all the tools, it is quite normal for us to have then add special manual fixes because many new forms of malware cannot be found nor removed by the scanning tools.


    Yes you can format your hard disk after backing up your data, but even this is not a cure all. Some infections get into the Master Boot Record (MBR) and you will need to delete partitions and recreate them before fomatting and reinstalling to make sure you take care of this kind of potential infection.

    Obviously you have to make sure that you have the necessary Windows reinstall disk for your PC and you need all the device driver files that may be required for your PC. Many people do not have this.
