Im kind of computer illiterate, but i guess i have an easy question. Our friend installed windows office on our computer, but we would like to keep it on here. However, our computer needs to re-formatted. How would i go about keeping my microsoft office on the hard drive without it be formatted? If someone could help that would be great.

If you format the hard drive, you will lose Office and EVERYTHING on the hard drive. Generally speaking, programs cannot be backed up to CD or DVD, only documents, music, photos and such can be backed up. The only way to get Office back onto a formatted hard drive, is to reload it from the installation CD. BUT- there's a free program called OpenOffice that is every bit as good as Microsoft Office. It creates and opens all MS Office documents, and any documents created are interchangeable and compatible w/ both MS Office and Open Office. It's a free download, available right here from Major Geeks in the Office Tools download section. I've been using Open Office Oxygen Professional for a few months now, and have only good things to say about it, and it's free! :D
