    I am running WindowsXP Pro SP 2 in my other box and when I try to boot, it says NTLDR is missing, i cant get into the boot menu thus disabling me from booting into safe mode. I am running ME on this current comp that I use... Thanks guys for your time!

    This subject isnt my specialty but I think I can get you into the right direction. If Im not mistaken your Boot.ini file could be corruted. What I mean is if the boot.ini file is not pointing to the correct IDE location you will get that error.

    This is what a boot.ini file should look like.

    [boot loader]
    timeout=30
    default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
    [operating systems]
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect

    What you might have to do is use an ME or 98 start up disk to get to a true dos prompt, find the boot.ini file using the attrib command and edit it in dos.
    Again, I may be way off but a friend explained to me once the same error and thats what he did to correct it.

    Here is a link that will explain everything

    Good luck

    Windows XP users

    1. Insert the Windows XP bootable CD into the computer.
    2. When prompted to press any key to boot from the CD, press any key.
    3. Once in the Windows XP setup menu press the "R" key to repair Windows.
    4. Log into your Windows installation by pressing the "1" key and pressing enter.
    5. You will then be prompted for your administrator password, enter that password.
    6. Copy the below two files to the root directory of the primary hard disk. In the below example we are copying these files from the CD-ROM drive letter "E". This letter may be different on your computer.

    copy e:\i386\ntldr c:\
    copy ntdetect.com c:\

    7. Once both of these files have been successfully copied, remove the CD from the computer and reboot.
