    BMonk,

You mean run a registry cleaner?

It's probably wise to run a reg cleaner once in a while if you install and uninstall and upgrade and update a lot. Your registry accumulates a lot of entries for things that are no longer on your hard drives. If you run a reg cleaner once a month or so, it removes the deadwood, and keeps a backup so that you can restore the removed entries if any errors occur, and then you can go back and check the cleaner's list carefully, to find out what was removed in error. What you find can then be added to your Ignore list, so that your reg cleaner won't make the same mistake again.

(I'm assuming you're running XP. If you're running Win98 and you're asking about the scanreg command, that's a different question and requires a different answer.)

(By the way, you can't use forum codes or links in your sig on this board. Click User CP in the banner at the top of this page, and you can edit your profile to remove that line. I was going to PM you about it, but no PM link shows up on your name.)
