    I think?

Yesterday i downloaded some files from this site, msot went well but one of them has changed my system completely, i no longer have a network connection, and my windows taskbar has returned to classis from vista... i think it was a .rar that contained lots of scripts that added things to the registry, i only used one called.... GameXP Pro... or something, im not sure what the program was and not sure if it was this that caused the problem but i guess it is.

The thing is, can anyone tell me what program? So i can check for a remove from registry script, or advise me on another plan of action? You see - I didnt set a system restore point so unfortunately thats outta the question.

Thanks for any help - Much appreciated.

Are you sure you don't have a restore point? I have XP Home, and it automatically creates one every day and saves several days' worth. This is nothing I had to set up; it just does it.

As md2lgyk mentions, have you checked System Restore for restore points prior to installing the muliple applications toy installed?

open System Restore then click, Chect the date on the recomenders restore point and if its after the time you installed all these apps then check the Choose a different Restore point an look down the list for one that was before the install of these multiple apps, going back a few days is still preferable, but before you restore back save any new files/emails you have saved or created first.

But to also work out what you have installed we would need to know all the applications you downloaded and installed, like what was the .rar???? as .rar is none descriptive and could mean anything.

Have you also uninstalled all the software you installed that could have caused this?

Too late I know... but with you running Vista, its very wise to double check any application for compatability with Vista as many which alter registry settings may not be as some Vista registry hive and key locations are not the same as XP.
