Registry entry or key for screen resolution changes?

    Running XP sp3. This relates to previous post about inability to change resolution in Windows from control panel display settings. Graphics have been reinstalled, but still can't change it out of current setting at 800x600. Is there a path or key in the registry I can look for, or if there should be one, can Windows acquire it and merge it back in to fix this?
