Don't worry about those errors and do not bother cleaning your registry if you do not have any issues with your computer. In fact, cleaning your registry can lead to more problems if something critical is deleted and constant cleaning can lead to a fragmented registry. I actually believe registry cleaners are the snake oil of the industry. I removed .NET from a computer and using multiple registry cleaners deleted thousands of registry items. I noticed no increase in boot times. Save yourself some headaches and forget the registry cleaners.

Just about the only time I use a registry cleaner is immediately after I have "decrapified" it, meaning uninstalled all of the junk from the factory and then it often finds lots of junk from Norton, Microsoft (hmmmm), the free games, etc.
But; ironically, registry cleaners almost always find references to old .NET versions which are instanly recreated (for compatability reasons) the next time you invoke .NET.
Like tgell, don't worry about it.

thanks for the replies guys, ithink you're right, i've lost count the number of tlmes i've had to restore due to reg cleaning and the performance has never improved. Right now asc is showing 300 plus reg errors yet my computer boots in 24 secs (lenovo 3000 g530 1.5gb ram) which i think is pretty quick, so i will leave well alone.one thing, though, why does asc5 show my laptop health as poor yet it seems perfectly fine to me

That's just it about registry cleaners. It's possible it is calling your computer health poor because of the number of registry errors is finds even though those errors mean nothing. Registry Hives are in the MB, so cleaning a few hundered kilobytes will do nothing. Registry problems need to be looked at on a case by case basis. You can not do a shotgun type approach to cleaning. Just make sure your computer is clean from malware by using your antivirus scan and a third party scanner like Malwarebytes. And, since you have Windows 7, it automatically schedules disk defragging every week so you do not have to worry about that either.

You yourself have proved that registry cleaners, especially doing deep scans, can do more harm than good by the number of times you have restored because of problems.

If you do not have an install disk, just recovery disks, one of the most important things you can do is create a System Recovery Disk. This will allow you to do a system restore if the computer will not boot.

    Hi

The reg errors are likely not actual errors or issues but many registry cleaners show registry values as issues when they are in fact just temp keys from log files for instance. Many registry cleaners scan the HIVES that they should leave well alone as some keys that they may report a an error or issue are not and deleting will cause issues with your PC.

I would forget what ASC5 thinks of your Laptops status as apps like these need to show that they are doing something, similar to poor malware scanning apps that think cookies are an issue, they show these as problems to inflate their effectiveness.

Like others already posted I would only use a registry cleaner when removing old left over reminents to uninstalled applications and maybe in some troubleshooting steps to cover all bases, but registry cleaners will never noticeably speed up a PC as the registry is not that big to cause slowness and definitely doesn't need registry deframentation apps.

If your PC/Laptop is working fine then that's all that matters, never fix what's not broken :)
