Registry Issue

I have a HP P3 with two hard drives. Both currently running XP.
One drive will not boot up. When I get the XP splash screen, it shows the loading bar then goes to the blue screen of death, with a twist.

It tells me that there is a serious registry error and windows must shut down to protect my computer. Then it does a complete physical memory dump and stops. I have to manually turn off the computer and then restart.

I tried restarting in safe mode with the same results.
How do I get past this to fix the registry?
I can see the physical drive and all its contents from the other drive.
I have run a complete scan disk and still have the problem.

Anyone out there have a clue?

    Thanks

And Salute back at ya. :)
I'm still running through the updates and virus scans and such.
I figure that it will take at least half the day to get in a position to try that hard drive again.
    I'll let you know.
    Thanks for the replies.
