Registry Softwre Question

Is there a program out there in freeware land that will allow you to lock your windows XP registry and approve any changes on the fly?

 

Wow, I'd hate to see what would happen, if you were to install Microsoft Office and have something like that running.

What you really need to consider is booting with a Linux Live distro CD.

 

Yea I have Debian on one box and and old Mandrake version on another. I might try Suzy on a bootable partition in my net book soon. I have puppy on a disk that I like to play with and I was considering putting that on my netbook but its pretty limited as to what you can do with puppy with out a lot of work. Suzy has a lot of programs all ready for it.

Yea I know it could create havoc but for installing new programs you can get every single change to your hives if it had to ask for permission first. I had a program that you could compare backups with but I just thought if it had to ask permission before making changes then you become master of your registry with out all the fuss of going back and editing the crap out of the registry. Things like software expiration dates that are left behind when you uninstall you would know exactly where they are. ect. I like the hands on approach. Although I admit freely that I screw up the registry now and then. LOL

It's a learning process

I think I was using a program called "What Changed" it was kind of a pain. But it worked.

 

Yeah, in some situations, I prefer to install something in a VM, that way, I can contain the install, and go from there.
