Registry Tools

Looking for software that will aid in cleaning up registry.
Most software that does this have a lot of other tools I don't need.
anyone know of a registry tool that does contain other tools or just a few

It isn't really a good idea to "clean" the registry unless there is a specific reason.

But, myself, I'm a go in and do it manually type of guy. If you do use the above program (app). Back up first.

 

I am with Adrynalyne; there is rarely any reason to "clean" the registry.

 

Agree. And many of the products that claim to clean/defrag the registry are Snake Oil...

 

As far as cleaning goes, what Registry Cleaners do is akin to removing an ant from a parking lot. If you must use one then follow theefool's advice regarding CCleaner.
Anything that actually needs fixing in the registry is seldom achieved by using them. Any cleaner more aggressive than CCleaner, will sooner or later likely cause you problems.
The bottom line is, unless you know the registry backwards, leave it alone.

 

CCleaner is a really good tool for cleaning registry and internet files and cookies

 

I'm in agreement with all those who recommended CCleaner. It's all I use AND I do back up the registry.

 

Registry cleaners are not needed with most modern OS.
Hit and miss if they work or not.
