I am not employed by this website, nor a contributor to the newsletter you speak of, but...

Sure there are better AV, but for free, it ranks pretty high.

And you couldn't find one favorable review? Try using google.com

The product I am complaining about is ReimageRepair Software. I know AVG is a good Security software but bundling any software sucks>

MG's tells you in the product description whether it's freeware, shareware, commercialware or "bundleware" and makes every attempt to be a mirror for the best of what's available. They do not make the choice to download or install. You do. Please read product descriptions and during the installation process choose "Custom" instead of "Express" if you don't want the included "bundleware".

I am not a newbie and understand that I have the Option to Customize the install. This was not the subject matter of my post.
You are pushing a software with NO favorable backing!

    Hi

Thanks for the post and I take it this is the software you are referring too http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/reimage.html

IF not then please link me to the correct application so I know what you are referring too.

As for Reimage and the newsletter, the newsletter will highlight programs of interest, doesn't mean you need to use them, but review and see if they fill a need of yours, but reviews on CNet and PCWorld have to be taken with a pinch of salt as reviewers are... ahh remove my comment!

But in the main I see a "good" opinion on this software not great but not superb, personally I have not used it so cannot comment, as I find my repair and recovery needs in Windows own repair options and my backup is Acronis True Image

Can you link me to the no favourable backing so I can read the reviews? then I maybe able to alert the site owners to this info and it may change the review of this software, but need credible sources.

    acooldozen...

This thread got me thinking about how often programs have to be tested here at MGs for the site to stay current. By this I mean tested for bundled software in the installer. Every time one of the MGs programs is updated to a new version, MGs has to test the installer. That's so that the download page can give fair warning of the possibility of extra software. In light of all the work that is done for basically nothing (on a good day as the admins have said) and in light of the amazing access to all this freeware (and fairly priced shareware) for no charge, too, I'm just going to say to the admins, "really great work" and "thanks".

Yes, the world of freeware is messy to a certain extent for now. I doubt it will ever be 100% clean when it comes to the installers. We should just be careful and be happy that the software is available. As for carrying software that there are no good reviews for, I think MGs does a great job of carrying programs that have something novel about them in the program somewhere. The choices on what to offer here at MGs are really great in my opinion.

MGs is practically a miracle in my opinion. I'm with you who expect the best from the admins and site, but I know they are up to the challenge of making sure people can use their PCs the way they need to be able to use them. Been using the site for a good bit longer than I have been a member, and admins are consistent and 100% committed to the site and the users at MGs.

I kind of get the concerns, but the software world is what it is, and we got to learn to live in it. MGs is doing their best to help with this in my mind...

    Just sayin'...:)
