Have you tried leaving the password blank?

Why would it ask for any password while reinstalling? Tell us exactly what you are doing, and what lead up to it.

I was reformatting to put a fresh install back on my laptop because it was getting a blue scren saying windows couldn't find the memory. I don't remember the error code.

Well the only way it would ask for a password is if you were trying to reformat from recovery console.

    Thats not gonna work.

Also, a blue screen mentioning a memory error? You should troubleshoot a little further. It may not be a software problem at all.

it kept doing it over and over so I wanted to try to reformat it to see if it would fix the issue. I was in the windows setup trying to reinstall when it was kicked out and asked for the password. Also when I tried to go back into windows to see what is was asking it didn't have an .ini file to start windows so now I'm stuck with no way to restore the laptop.

Are you trying to format from a recovery CD or a recovery partition?

    I'm guessing recovery CD.

At this point you have two options. Try to repair the existing Windows installation or start a new installation.

Where are you getting the info about a missing .ini file? Which .ini are you told is missing?

ok I'm trying to reinstall from a normal windows cd not a recovery disk. when I get the ini error is when I tried to restart windows.

It isn't that blue screen I was getting when the computer was working a blue screen would pop up and say memory are something else and I would have to manual turn of the machine. Then when i turn it back on I would be able to do a little bit of stuff and the screen would pop back with the error blue screen.

If you're not getting to that screen then you're not doing a Windows setup.

Please be very specific and tell us what exactly are you doing and what you are using (for instance a Windows CD made by MS or a recovery CD made by a PC manufacturer). Step by step like...

    I turn computer on
I insert such and such CD into drive
I press such and such key at such and such screen
    etc
