I am reinstalling XP Home Edition on my PC and I keep getting blue screens that make me restart the process. . I am in the setup phase where it shows the amount of minutes left on the left panel and at about 33 minutes left I have to type in computer info, serial number, time zone, etc. Usually around 5-10 minutes left it will flash to a blue screen. Sometimes it says like "PAGE FOUND IN NONPAGED AREA" or something like that but it usually says "DRIVER STUCK IN AN INFINITE LOOP". I read a article on how you can go into control panel and fix this but I can't becuase I dont even have Windows fully installed on my computer... help please!!!

First thing to check is that your bios anti-virus is turned off ....that usually will stop an install since it has to write to the MBR.

Just for the halibut ...use a non-usb mouse ...see if that helps.
Turn off the 'puter before you plug it in.

If you can get into the bios screens ...see what its reporting for ram ...otherwise will have to physically look at the sticks of ram in the case. It sounds like a bad stick of ram.

I'm a little brain dead at the moment ...should be listed under one of those first four settings ....hit enter to open the setting page ....esc to x out of that page ...f10 to save and exit.

cant find the ram number. how do i count the sticks of ram in the computer?

    two interesting notes...

it says the following file is the problem: framebuf

also under the 3rd screen i noticed my cpu is 174 degrees F and the fan is going at 0 RPM (ots obviously not working)

dont know if that has relevance or not

Whoa! There's the problem...your micro is smoking hot! You need to either plug your fan back in or get a new one.

Then it is probably the heat thats causing the problems ....way too hot ...and no fan running ...bad news. You deed to get that fan running or replaced!!

i studied it and i think i found the cause of the loud whurr. it has 6 blades but there is a gap like it should have 7 but a blade has been broken off. i guess its unbalanced. ever since ive made the fan spinning again, the computer hasnt turned on. i held the fan stopped with a pencil but the computer still didnt register on the monitor. i checked the monitor connections, and everything is connected...
