    Quick question,

have IBM laptop with Windows XP Home as the operating system.
Computer did not come with bootup disk or the windows cd, however
have the verification sticker for windows on the back of my computer.
What i would like to do is reinstall windows and start of fresh with a
operating system , as there is nothing of value on the computer. Here's
the question My friend as bought a new computer which came with a
windows xp home cd ,would i be able to use it to reinstall the operating
system and just put in my code when microsoft asks for verification.

as long as you have your own key, it shouldn't matter what xp home cd you use. it should be fine.

    Actually, there are differences.

    Corporate
    OEM
    Retail
HP (If memory serves me well, this company has a specific restore cd, and the key won't work using OEM or Retail)

Anyway, having an retail key and using an OEM cd won't work. Or even vice versa.

But, you can give it a try anyway. Hopefully, you'll get lucky.
