I was visting a friend yesterday, a friend with a 2003 C5 Corvette 350/350/350. He keeps it parked and covered, he uses his truck for transportation 99% of the time.

I casually mentioned that I had never driven a 'vette. ;)

He throws me the keys and sez those magic words: "Well let's fix that!"

The power is UnFreakinReal! Pin you to the back of the seat power...

His is a 6 speed, but I never got past 5th gear because the roads are just too short in the straightaways and the Airport Authority wouldn't let us use their runway. :-D

On a downnote, the CFO (aka She Who Must Be Obeyed) has nixed any possibliity of my acquiring a 'vette unless the lottery is won...

Ha! Good for you - I've always wanted to drive a 'Vette, never have. Maybe I'll meet your friend one day...;)

Closest I guess I've ever been to that nirvana is buying a '79 Trans Am - yeah, it was the silver 10th Anniversary edition with the 400 and the BW T-10 tranny, but it wasn't a 'Vette...

Great story and what a good friend :) :cool
My religious experience was in the early 1990s when for a birthday present I was given 10 hot laps around Sandown Park (racetrack) in a Ferrari F40 supercar :drool:drool:drool:drool:drool
It was fantastic except on the main straight of lap seven a rear tyre had a blowout at 160MPH and the amazing thing was the car pulled up in a straight line even though the complete back quarter bodywork was destroyed and the mag wheel exploded.:cool
To give me the rest of my laps and as a bonus they let me have another 10 hot laps in a new Testarosa 512 TR :drool:drool:drool

It was a fantastic birthday present and I still dream of one day owning either a Ferrari F40 or a Jaguar XJ220 but at $500,000 for the Ferrari and $1,000,000 for the Jag, they are on hold until I win the lottery roflmao

Here is a link to a map of the racetrack

Cool raceway. Nice for going the wrong way round. ;)

Love a vette. Haven't driven one myself, though I've seen it up close and personal at race speeds.

Hilarious to see one sitting bottomed out in the sand.

I had the privilege of driving a BMW 840i, and a benz 12 banger.

:-D:-D Very fast cars. I love my Camry.

I haven't driven a later model Vette, but did drive a late 60's model. The performance was great, but it rode like a log wagon. Perhaps newer models have better or more passenger friendly suspensions. :)
