Put a new drive in a HP mini netbook 210T, trying to load xp from external cd drive but when it gets to starting windows it gives a 0x07b error. I have looked for a sata drive setting in bios but see nothing to change. Drive is a 250GB Sata...Any suggeston, would loading from a flash drive make any difference? Seems like I ran into this before and I could change the harddrive setting in Bios but I see no setting on this netbook. Thanks Michael

If has no OS now so I can't run cpu-z on it, I tried a few different drivers on the hp link but it still won't work. Is there any other way, could it be hooked up as sata and done some how. Thanks Michael

Try this link to a PDF file that explains the process for the Intel NM10 chipset. Do not open unless you check it for viruses. I cannot be responsible for this 3rd party link or any other downloads referenced in the PDF.

I burned 2 different disk, one with the nm10 driver and one with the multiple driver file. Neither work failed at the same spot. Is there anything special I need to do to load that driver? I thought it would just automatically load. Thanks

The NM10 driver should be a zip file with the drivers. You need to unzip and slipstream into XP using nlite. See the PDF file that sach2 and I linked to. It explains it in detail.

Yes I did just as the pdf stated and its not working. Is there any other way to do it?

That one didn't work either....I guess I will load 7 on it to verify the driver then go back to XP to make it right. That way I can verify the chipset with cpu-z.

Did you try the NM10.rar file that was linked to in the PDF file? That is a different version than the intel one I linked to.

I've used nlite exactly once so I can't be of much help. I did find this thread that mentioned a BIOS update although the fixes in f24 make no mention of anything SATA driver related. Check if you are running F23 or F24 version of BIOS just so you know if an update is even possibly relevant. I'm not necessarily recommending it since updating the BIOS itself presents a problem in itself with no OS installed.

Loaded 7 and it is Intel NM10, but still doesn't work. Updated Bios from F.11 to F.24 still no setting for Sata and it did help any. is it worth me trying from flash drive or should the disk be the same. Thanks

I would try to install from a USB drive. The XP install you used to stream the SATA drivers was SP3, correct? Take the slipstreamed CD and use Win2flash to create a bootable USB. Or, you can use the iso created by nlite along with SARDU to create a USB install drive.

it is SP2, do I need to slipstream SP3?

It probably is not necessary but it would not be a bad idea to slipstream SP3 and avoid the additional updates you would need after install. SP2 is no longer supported as far as security updates are concerned and by doing the slipstream first, you would cut down on drive space used when updating from SP2 to SP3.

Could I load a file from the 7 disk into xp, 7 loads just fine..

I am not sure about that. You can try but I would not know which file or where you would put it on the XP disk or iso. Not sure if they would even be compatible. What spot did the xp install fail at?

it fails in the beginning after it loads files and says STARTING WINDOWS never gets to the install screen.

Okay, I think I know what the problem may be. You have downloaded and slipstreamed the SATA drivers but you must also slipstream the Chipset INF files so that XP can see the nm10 chipset.

    In the readme section of INF Update Utility - Primarily for Intel® 6, 5, 4, 3, 900 Series Chipsets (Intel® NM10 Express Chipset )
