    First, welcome to MajorGeeks! :major
Second, using your email address for your user name is a bad idea due to spam harvesters that look for email addresses on the web and they then flood your inbox with junk. Ask one of the admins or forum mods to change it.
Third, I'm not sure I even know what your talking about. Your post is titled "reloading XP problem" and then you say something about a broken button? And something is telling you to press the ECS button? Please clarify this for all of us ;)
    Thanks!

    Re: reloading XP problem

Thanks for the advice!! I will do that as soon as I am done with this reply. I realized I misspelled when it was too late!! I am reloading Windows XP on my computer. I am booting from the CD and I am at the part where it asks if you want to repair or install a fresh copy. I want to install a fresh copy but it is telling me to push the ESC key and mine on my keyboard is broken. Is there an alternate to the ESC key?

Do you mean that the ESC button is cracked or that nothing happens when you press it? Have you tried removing it and pressing the rubber matting with a pen or pencil (preferrably the soft end). Might just be some debris got underneath the button and is stopping it from making contact. Just my two cents worth. Good luck.

I tried that and it does not work!! Something was spilled on that part of the keyboard so the first few keys dont work. What else do you suggest?

Well, you could take your keyboard apart and clean the area using a very small amount off alcohol and a Q-tip. I have had some success with this in the past when a cat spilled soda all over my keyboard. I was shocked when I opened it and saw all the crap in there. Or you could purchase a new keyboard. I do not know of any shortcuts that mimic hitting the ESC key. Someone else might though. Sorry I could not be more helpful.

How do I hook up a laptop and use that keyboard? Is there a way???:confused

You can not use a laptop keyboard in place of your desktop keyboard.
Take the CD out of the drive and turn off the computer. Either buy another keyboard or borrow one from a friend to re-install windows.
