if i was to assemble my computer with all high end parts but for now use a low cost budget processor(intel based) and overclock the hell out of it until i have the $$ for an amd fx-62

i would have liquid cooling etc ( Tai CHi casing)

would the overclocking of the proccesor do any damge to the ram or other high end componets

and also when i upgrade from intel (cheap chip) to AMD (high end chip) i will need to replace my mobo and swap all pieces such as ram but will i need to reformat hardrives or do anything when i change from intel to amd based???

If you overclock properly no,not at all,all components come with at least a 3 years warranty, ram comes with a lifetime warranty as do alot of video cards these days so it isnt of concern,if you would like to keep your components substantially longer than 3 years overclocking can shorten the life of components, its all relative to how the overclocking is handled,if you setup stock computer poorly in the first place it could die within a year anyway,if you take cooling seriously,as I do, and keep all components way under normal operating temperature at max overclock under full load there is no reason the computer wouldnt last for many years, longer than any comercially bought computer or parts running at stock speeds and just thrown together,

I have been looking into this aswell if you buy an intel dual core 805 bO stepping chip for £80 this can be overclocked to the speed of an FX60 using water cooling,a quality PSU is required though and good case cooling to keep the motherboard cool, yes you will have to reformat as the motherboard will have to be changed, due to the number of drivers required for the motherboard to run its highly recommended and limits future problems :)

I'm a 'NOOB' when it comes to watercooling I have yet to build a water cooling setup, without reading any reviews of the ti chi I cant offer advice on its performance, the general consensus is that buying each part individually a much better setup can be achieved, also you can have this watercooling setup for much cheaper on looks alone you can see the quality is much greater that ti chi's setup, the pipe is twice the diameter and has a high quality centrifuge pump, the tia chi's looks like a cheepo water cooling setup, you could also have a decent case and still have change, the ti chi is for lazy people who want better than air 'which it might not be' but dont want to go to the trouble of constructing their own,for me the construction if the bulk of the fun,I'd rather pay more and have the pleasure of the build

Remember when the 805 reaches it max overclock your gonna have to get rid of nearly 500w of heat,if you imagine how hot a 450w halogen floodlight gets thats what your dealing with,I would want 2 120 x 240 radiators, the more the better and a good quality pump, the chip responds very well to low temps the lower the temp the higher the overclock and then your safety headroom to give the chip longivity

Ypu for two of those radiator you'd need 4 120mm fans then a place to fit them on the case,I dont think i'v seen any cases with 4 120mm fan holes,I definately havnt seen any cases that could accomodate two of those radiator without chopping the case,,this is the kind of cooling you need though to keep that chip cool

I suppose its all how far you wana push the chip and how much a safety margin you'd need for peace of mind :)

so you just cut holes in the case? or do you leave it open?
