You know, we would not list his program because it was spyware and he fought with us finally caving only so far as to say you can opt out of the spyware when you install to which we replied no one reads that crap...

    Ring a bell?

Well, there is going to be some pissed off people:

    A: Microsoft revokes it.

    Oops. WTG Microsoft!

Of course, since they didn't understand the ramifications of "Windows Genuine Advantage" either, maybe they just don't understand what malware is.

Thought the last paragraph was rather telling as to the MS$ mindset:
"On Thursday, it was revealed that new antipiracy measures in Vista and Longhorn will disable Windows Defender, the portion of the operating system designed to block viruses and other malware, if the company cannot verify that the operating system installation is legitimately licensed."

Guess that means if we can't validate you, we'll sabotage you....

Even if Windows Defender is banished for having bootleg software, doesnt mean thats the only anti-malware scanner out there :p

M.S. virtually may as well make Lopcom an associate M.V.P. customer. Like you indicated, if adware sponsored programmers are allowed to be a M.V.P., then I can't see people who are not involved in the tacky adware financed programs wanting to be associated with such an 'honour'.

There's plenty of ways to find sponsors without going down any deceptive, unwanted avenues.

Other functions will go too Blades....

With Vista you will now have to validate your installation key!

MS will give you 30 days from installation to do so before the OS reverts to, what they call, 'Reduced Functionality Mode' (I guess this is when it happens Tim). A validated key may be entered at anytime to return to normal mode.
This process will now be required everytime you receive OS updates from MS

This 'Red.Func.Mode' takes out not only WD, but all genuine add-ons such as Aero User Interface, Ready Boost and no doubt Cyril Paciullo, and his Messenger Plus!

MS have finally taken control of the OS's kernel, (something mac have done for some time) by not allowing anything to run at the same privilege level as the kernel, and by shutting down the kernel if anything messes with it........

I'm surprised too MA, by MS's decision. I guess their rush to have the 'latest developments' in any area, is severly impairing their judgement?
Yet, decisions such as this only strengthen the cases for Linux and others i would think?

Are you sure your not on Bill's 'speed-dial' MA?.....lol

    Regards

The same thing happens in xp. You have to validate a key for it to with in 30 days.or it doesn't work either.
