For about the last two hours I have scoured the net attempting to remedy my situation and have failed miserably. At the final point of defeat I recalled a website that has always been a help in the past. So if you can help please do :)

    Ok here is the situation.
For the past few weeks I had bringing in my home computer to work using the connection here to play world of warcraft. ( I work graveyard and do very little)
Now since the company is shutting down in four months they are doing an internet based inventory of all computers on the network. Im unsure if its related but I think it is, since they started this using my home computer just means that every thing I try to connect to is surf controlled. On my normal work computer nothing is surf controlled so Im not sure why it blocks everything on the home computer I brought in.

So any advice to fix this will help, but for now my main idea is remote connection.
If I can set it up to leave my home computer on and use my work computer to remote connect and play the game that way.
After reading up on remote connection I think its possible just not sure of exactly how. Most of the walk thrus i have seen just cover setting it up on the same network. I need to configure it over the net.

Any help is appreciated without setting this up the next four months will be miserable. My company outsourced everything and is shutting down and until then my job basically means Im on my *** for 8 hours a day. Having a little bit of gaming fun during that time will make the next for months so much more tolerable. :)

    Thanks to da Geeks!

Not gonna work, direct3d doesn't run over rdp or vnc. Theres no way for you to play games llike wow at work. IMHO if your my employee id can your *** now for hooking a personal machine to my work network, and risking my machines with any crap that may be on your home computer.

hmmmm glad I dont work for you... no one has a problem with me hooking up my machine because its a comp I built solely to run my gaming stuff at places other than home. I couldnt afford a laptop so i threw together donated parts :) it doesnt matter from your perspective but the comp is 100% clean basically existing as a console with a keyboard. I dont even run a net browser on it. And seeing as my company is shutting down after a couple of months and my workload is now at about 10% of what it was what I do in the down time is up to me. Anyhow all that wasnt the point of the post.

But ty for the information didnt realize direct3d wouldnt run that way. I will find another solution.

Hey not a problem, its your it peoples calls, i just know the trouble we had we "clean" machines, and that we evently just went and banned the option to bring your own machine in. Too much hassle. Anyhow yea, games over rdp or vnc don't work well if at all. Best bet is to identify whats not allowing you to play on your machine from work.

ah no biggie if i wasnt trusted at work i wouldnt be able to do any of it. and my "clean" is in quotes too :) the only reason I know its safe is it hasnt and will not be exposed to anything aside from WoW and the Blizz patcher lol. Aside from that a xp pro disc and driver updates are all that it will ever get.
Anyhow ty again for the advice. Since it wont work I put the idea away and picked all my art supplies i shelved like six months ago.

if you have a cell phone service, you can see about getting wireless
service on your account, then bring your own connection to work

BTW-- nothin wrong with a little gameplay at work, as long as the work gets done;)
