Remote Control PC Operation.

Hey people,

Is there a commercially available program out there that will let me operate my desk top PC from my laptop, and vice-Versa?

I've heard about programs that monitor each keystroke a person makes, but my understanding is that they are viral in nature. I've heard about remote programs on TV Crime Dramas. but I am not sure if they truly exist.

I know it is laziness, but when i am comfortable in one room, and need a file from my desktop, I am tired of having to go into the other room and copy the file and then go back.

Is this even possible when my Desktop runs WinXP and my Laptop runs Win 7?

I have a wireless router, and I can print from my laptop, anywhere in my house, but I'd like to be able to access drives on my Desktop, from my laptop and transfer files and what not, is this possible?

 

you mentioned your runnung win 7 if so go to accessories and set up a remote connection i think this might work

 

set up a home network for yourself, using the network setup wizard, and share your "My Documents" directory. Then you'll be able to access your desktop files directly from your laptop by choosing "my network places" and navigating to your desktop directory to the file you're looking for.

 

There are remote desktop control programs out there (free ones, even).

However, for what you want, networking is definitely a better alternative.

I am sorry guys, none of the options provided are working. My win 7 laptop is dying (its less than a year old) and I can't get the xP PC to show up on the 7 pc or vice versa.

Besides. i want to control the Internet windows on one pc, from another.

EX: I want to brows what is on my fire fox browser on my desktop from my laptop

Or a service like gotomypc..maybe

 

try a program called TEAMVIEWER 5.0 it will allow you to take control of the other pc, even with different operating systems. pretty fun little program. oh yea, it's free too!
