I have two dell, XP computers bought at different times that have the same problem of allowing me to log on to Administrator or other remote desktop users without a password. How do i fix this problem as it is a security threat to my computer. I need to be able to use remote desktop, however i need to fix the problem of computer not needing a password during remote desktop

The users in question all have windows passwords?
Is RDC set to remmeber passwords? You can check by opening RDC and selecting the 'Options' button.

set a password on the administrator account ?

RDC shouldn't be able to be enabled without Password Policies being enabled which would mean you have to have a password, so its more likely its saving your password like mada said.

RDC has no password set on it, as i can use any remote desktop connection from a random computer. the user "Administrator" has never been used on this computer, we have a user named after me with administrator previlages. No password was ever set up on the "Administrator" user. If you log onto the public IP with remote desktop and type in the user name Administrator or my name you can get in under both log in names with no password from any computer outside the office....

RDC shouldn't have a password on it itself, unless someone has put permissions on the executable. (ie, you are using the Run As function)

You will have to set a password on the administrative account to prevent people from logging in without a password, as RDC uses Windows' authentication. By the sounds of it, your account doesn't have a password either? You will need to set a password on that as well.

From outside would require port forwarding ? you should disable that on port 3389 if you don't want any connections from outside.

Set a password on the administrator account, not having one is a security risk anyway.,

Hey Guys thanks for your help, I am getting similar errors as well on two other machines that i have set up an extra user for purpose of remote desktop. It is a pop up that says server authentication error (0xC00000BB). It tells you to go to event viewer and the event viewer leads me to the following link after i follow the error message in help and support
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/828873/en-us
If i restart the computer it works again for a short while. do you think i have some bugs that came on the computers here. We took these computers at work online for the 1st time last week, but i only have ad-aware and nortons installed on the machines....

Quite possible... I can TOTALLY imagine malware messing up your authentication (in an attempt to circumvent your security). To make sure your system is clean, please follow all the steps in the malware removal thread. Worst case scenario is that after you follow these steps you will be left with an excellent (AV apps better than Nortons IMO), redundant and FREE defense against spyware and viruses.
